Bottomless Mimosas: $10.50
Overall: 3.5 | This week, we had every intention of going to Devil’s Food, but unfortunately they were completely full and do not take reservations (the wait was 1.5-2 hours). So we decided that rather than wait for a table, we would take a walk down the road and pick a different brunch spot. Before doing that, however, we grabbed coffee & some baked goods from the Devil’s Food bakery (Delicious! Definitely going to have to try their food eventually.). Situated a few blocks east of Wash Park on Gaylord St, The Tavern was the perfect answer to our dilemma. We were seated immediately upon our arrival and even had our choice of sitting inside on the balcony (we chose the balcony, of course!). I wish I had known ahead of time that they allow dogs – I would have definitely taken Chaos (pictured below) here had I known! Either way, we had a great time at the Tavern at Wash Park. Our waiter, Julius, was quite good and kept our mimosas full and food on time. Everything we had was above average, and we all enjoyed ourselves quite a bit.
Food: 3.5 | I had a skillet of eggs & bacon and some taters. A traditional yet reliable breakfast! I was a fan. I have to say, what looked the best on the table was the burger that was ordered by one of my compatriots. Next time I’ll be having that!
Drinks: 3.3 | Pretty standard mimosas and other bar drinks. You won’t go wanting here.
Service: 3.8 | As I mentioned earlier, we were seated immediately and the food and drinks came out within a reasonable amount of time. Our waiter was quite excellent and enjoyable, and only when the Tavern became packed could we tell he may have been getting strained. Overall, a good serving experience.
Ambiance: 3.2 | The patio was fun and I enjoyed the dogs that were out there. It wasn’t hectic like a dog bar can be, but it was enjoyable.
Value: 3.6 | The food was reasonably priced, and we loved the $10.50 bottomless mimosas!
